ST. JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL ROCKS!

Three students in the Science Research class each sent in a rock from the St. Joseph High School campus to NASA last February. The three students were Gianna Schjang, Makalia Francis, and Jasmine Urgent. Gianna will be a senior at the school next year while Makalia and Jasmine have graduated. Each of the students received certificates from NASA for their participation in the "Rock Around the World" program which is sponsored by NASA.

On the NASA website, Mars scientists asked students from around the world to help them understand the red planet by sending in rocks collected from their locations. NASA used a scientific instrument like the one on the Mars Rover to analyze and make a graph of each rock. Then they placed a photo and graphic analysis of each rock on the NASA website. The data will help them to better understand the rocks on Mars by comparing them to the rocks on Earth. in early June, the 3 St. Joseph High School students received a certificate and an ID to help find their rock photos and data on the NASA website.
