A NEW BEGINNING AT ST. JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL

Dr. Susan Diverio speaks to students and parents

Dr. Susan Diverio, the new principal, speaks to an overflowing group of 9th grade students and their parents

The journey through the 2001-2002 school year at St. Joseph High School got off to an ambitious start with Dr. Susan Diverio, the new principal, taking a long hike to the sea with the faculty and staff on August 13th. The faculty and staff include:

Mr. Peter Bovio, Ms. Maureen Brown, Ms. Stephanie Galeota, Mr. Hector Gonzalez, Ms. Joycelyn Hodgson, Mr. Raymond T. Matthew, Ms. Florette Milligan, Bro. James A. Petrait, O.S.F.S., Ms. Maria Rodriquez, Rev. Conrad Spencer, Ms. Faye Strunkey, and Ms. Alphenis Williams.

The journey continued throughout the week with meetings with the students and parents of each of the four grades, the students buying their textbooks, and the faculty and staff placing the facilities in tip-top shape. On August 17, the week concluded with St. Joseph High School hosting the meeting of the St. Croix Catholic schools with Sr. Kass Collins, SFCC from the National Catholic Education Association.

Dr. Susan Diverio makes the following 5 recommendations regarding the secrets of life for students to remember throughout the journey of the 2001-2002 school year: 1, Always remember where you came from (make your parents/family proud of you); 2, Be certain your roots are firmly planted in the ground because the winds of change will try to knock you down (don't give in the peer pressure - stay focused on your goals); 3, Always make sure of your footing as you climb (be certain before reacting or responding that it is appropriate); 4, Frustrating things will pass; 5, Along the 180 day journey you will learn what you need to enjoy rich and full lives.
