HAIKU POETRY

by

Giselle Narinesingh

Standing prodigious
Mahogany branches sway
Leaves provide shelter

Very peacefully
Leaves appear to move with time
Sounding graciously

Also dangerous
It can be during the storms
Such as hurricanes

The shade from the sun
The leaves ravishingly hang
Making it a tree

Branch swaying softly
In fresh cool tropical breeze
Cracking with a gust

Harmless in clear skies
Deadly if lightning strikes you
Hoping for clear skies

Old, deceased, and brown
Extended roots, strong and weak
Bring peace and spirit

Tall, elegant, wide
Playing in the wind, joyful
Bears a home for all

Pure splender withheld
Unique in own appearance
Beauty each one holds

Each branch a story
To be seen and to be told
Simply just a tree

Constantly gives shade
Providing puissant shelter
Pacifically
