For the sixth year in a row, St. Joseph High School had a unique event take place - a science symposium. In this competition, students do a science project and then make a presentation of it on videotape which is then judged. The judging took place during the month of May.
All of the winners were in the 12th grade and all won first place. Sylvia Connor-Navarro's project had the title, "The Eratosthenes Project: Measuring the Earth with Shadows". Jana James' project had the tilte, "The Effects of Microwave Radiation on Germination of Raphanus sativus". Eliana Schuster's project had the title, "The Effects of Temperature Change on the Germination of Allium cepa".
This was Sylvia Connor-Navarro's third winning entry in the Symposium and Eliana Schuster's second winning entry. Each of the three first place winners received a DVD player, Gold Medal, and certificate. All three are now graduates of St. Joseph High School.
